N S Clarke Transport, who are based in Rugeley, Staffordshire, have been using Merridale’s equipment and software since they were founded in 2003.
“The Merridale Auditor systems that we previously had were still going after more than 20 years so when we decided to update, we knew we were sticking with Merridale.” explained Russell Clarke.

As part of the upgrade, which included a Merridale MX-I integrated pump and fuel management system and a Merridale MX-T tank gauge, N S Clarke chose to use Merridale’s web-based software FuelWorks. With this, users can access data from any device connected to the internet and export reports as spreadsheets if required.
FuelWorks has become increasingly popular with Merridale’s current customers. Due to its ability to be accessed through a web browser on any device, FuelWorks gives the user complete flexibility and accessibility, eliminating the need for the software to be installed on a limited number of nominated devices.
When asked about their transition to FuelWorks, Russell said “FuelWorks is a vast improvement on the previous software! It does exactly what we need it to and more. We get a report that comes through automatically each Monday telling us everything we need to know and then the homepage of FuelWorks is great for daily checks. The old software had the essentials, but it wasn’t displayed as simply for the user.”
FuelWorks allows multiple users to report on and monitor their environmental impact, fuel usage, costs and vehicle performance across multiple sites or tanks. It also has the capability to monitor tank levels and predict low stock, with email alerts being sent in such events.
“The new Merridale system has given us greater detail and accuracy on the reporting side of things. We get the exact measurements on deliveries and ullage, and can keep track of all refuelling and MPGs, which is massively important when you’re using 36,000 litres of diesel a week.”
