Following steady growth in their business in recent years, and with the introduction of their dedicated, nationwide fuel desk – John F Hunt Fuels - in 2023, the business recognised that that the refuelling and monitoring equipment in place didn’t quite meet the requirements of their operation.

A representative for John F Hunt Power, explained “We tried a system before Merridale but ran into difficulties when trying to gather data and detect fuel deliveries. It became frustrating having to manually amend reports to make them match up. We heard about Merridale through our branch in Newcastle, who had an older pre-existing Merridale pump and management package.  They hadn’t had any trouble with theirs and the new Merridale range offered all the features we needed, so we decided to make the switch.”

With this upgrade, John F Hunt Power now use Merridale’s MX-I heavy-duty diesel pump with integrated fuel management system, alongside a second MX-P heavy-duty pump. Both units are controlled by the integrated system and are fitted with dual hoses, capable of dispensing both 70 and 90 litres per minute to accommodate the refuelling of both standard vehicles, fuel tankers and large machinery.  

As well as this, John F Hunt Power invested in a Merridale MX-T tank management system which works in tandem with the fuel management system to provide accurate stock recordings to their Merridale FuelWorks software.

 “Merridale were very accommodating as our tank is slightly different to most. Alongside the standard diesel pumps, we have a ‘skid’ capable of dispensing thousands of litres in just minutes which is used for filling tankers. Merridale were able to offer a bespoke setup and replaced the pre-installed gauges, so the ‘skid’ is now included as part of the system and linked with FuelWorks.”

As standard, a Merridale tank management system features a highly accurate gauge with precision pressure probes and overfill sensors. The intelligent tank management system can also include stock depletion detection, to alert you immediately, via SMS, of an unexpected drop in fuel level. This means that you will be alerted to any severe leak or theft from the tank as soon as it occurs, irrespective of where you are at the time. 

By transferring the data to the Merridale FuelWorks web-based service, via the fuel management integration, you can benefit further from fuel stock prediction, automatic delivery detection, low-level warnings, and order prompts, all accessible on any web-enabled device. Merridale FuelWorks allows fleet operators to set up multiple users across multiple sites to access unrivalled reporting features including fuel, cost, environmental impact, and vehicle and driver performance.
