Merridale reflect on their founding principles as they approach 30th anniversary.

In order to reflect on their growth and development in that period, we would like to introduce and document some examples of the founding principles that have created the Merridale that we operate today.

Within a three-article special, to be published across the next three instalments of FuelManagement.co.uk’s e-newsletter, we will discuss how the principles of compatibility, continuity and conformity have been the driving force behind Merridale’s success.

Compatibility

Compatibility best describes how Merridale has developed the range of products it currently offers, the reasons why each product range has been developed and the benefits that are offered by creating a ‘one-stop shop’ for all commercial fuelling products.

This will also encompass covering customer led development and the undoubted after-sales support benefits.

Continuity

This piece will discuss how Merridale, right from inception, has built into each of its product ranges the ability to ensure long service life.

This has been achieved by ensuring that there is a substantial degree of thought given to developing a range of upgrades that are able to be utilised in older equipment, at every stage of product development from hardware to software.

This enables greater usability and an improved after service that ensures the product life of Merridale equipment is by far the greatest offered in the commercial fuelling equipment field.

Conformity

Here we will address the abilities of Merridale to ensure that equipment offered meets with, and sometime exceeds, the highest manufacturing standards required.

This involves adherence to both electrical and manufacturing requirements and will also address some of the pros and cons of customers adopting equipment certified, conforming with, or simply ignoring ATEX requirements.

Other factors will include Merridale adherence to best practice as defined within electrical and machinery regulations.

Three Decades Of Merridale Fuel Pumps

With Merridale’s own range now available, as well as still supplying Gilbarco with fuel management units, the marketplace had the choice of buying either a complete Merridale built package or a Gilbarco built version of the same management system. However, over the decades that followed, Merridale enhanced its product range by introducing true twin units, […]
