Merridale creates a senior post to manage quality credentials

Andrew Tromans (Grad IOSH) has been recruited to review and update Merridale quality management procedures. Andrew joins the company as Operations Manager - a newly created senior staff post, which covers all aspects of quality and type approvals, from manufacturing through to installation and maintenance methods.

Andrew has accumulated over thirty years’ experience in manufacturing, since completing an indentured apprenticeship as a mechanical engineer. His career so far covers senior appointments for several Midlands- based companies, involved in various activities, from high volume electro mechanical devices to defence electronics. Previous assignments include chief estimator, cost accounting and manufacturing manager with full responsibility for contribution and profitability.

Continuing his professional development,  Andrew obtained the City & Guilds Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety in 2011. Four years later he completed the NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate. With these qualifications as well as his former experience, he then became a consultant engineer, helping clients in the development of quality control, occupational health & safety and environmental management

It was in this capacity, that Andrew was retained by Merridale to assist in the review of the company’s quality management process. These are standards required to meet the ‘preferred supplier’ status for local government authorities and large business enterprises, all of which are now seeking assurance that equipment specifications are fully compliant with current legal requirements.

Initial tasks have included the renewal of Merridale’s ‘Safe Contractor’ accreditation.  Andrew has also advised on the action necessary to ensure that Merridale depot fuelling installations meet  ATEX specifications, following the reclassification of diesel fuel as a potentially explosive product.

Commenting on Andrew’s appointment, development director, Paul Ledbury said. “Quality management procedures are a continuous process of specification, audit and review. Andrew has already made an important contribution and we are delighted that he has accepted our offer to join the company’s management team.”

Three Decades Of Merridale Fuel Pumps
