Continuing development to enhance machine interface and operation

Merridale is moving across to the use of read -write proximity tags as its principle configuration for the operation of the fuel management system. Customers can use the new system in conjunction with existing datakeys already in service, or if required, a retro fit tag reader installation is available.

Read–write capability

Read -write capability offers a number of operational benefits; in particular where there are variable access conditions such as what type of fuels are permitted. If the user selects diesel, the system will ask for an odometer reader input. If it is being used to draw gas oil, then the system can be programmed to ask for the ID details of the plant or the trailer unit being filled.

Read write also allows vehicle data such as the odometer reading when fuelled previously to be carried forward to the next transaction. This is important for use in a multi-depot network, where vehicles can fuel at more than one depot.

Since the read-write tag carries all the critical operational data, it simplifies programming of the FM monitoring unit or control unit. Should the main processing board be damaged by a lightning strike (or any other reason) it can be replaced quickly by a standard off-the-shelf unit. The tags will automatically update the system status as they are presented.
